Uplift People to Elevate the Business

Uplift People to Elevate the Business

15 January 2025 by Andrew Mayfield

I’ve noticed that AI thrives where it meets actual human needs. It’s not just about shiny new tech, but rather about aligning each tool with the people who’ll use it. Picture a busy workplace: a thousand moving pieces, each with its own demands. A well-integrated AI system can help us find smoother paths through the chaos, but it takes collaboration to make that happen.

In some nursing homes, robots assist with manual tasks like lifting patients or delivering meals. This isn’t about replacing caregivers, but freeing them to spend more time on empathy and connection. I suppose that’s the true promise of human-AI collaboration: letting people do what only people can do. The tech becomes a supportive backdrop, making space for meaningful interactions.

Younger leaders are often quicker to adopt AI. Maybe it’s a sign of the times, as Millennials and Gen Z have grown up alongside technology. Yet, I think it’s less about age and more about having an open mind. If we can maintain a growth mindset—embracing learning and trusting our teams to try new approaches—we’ll find that AI simply expands our toolkit, rather than overshadowing it.

Leadership sets the tone. When managers stay curious and provide room for experimentation, they nurture an environment where AI can drive innovation. We want an organisation where ideas cross departmental lines and technology serves human strengths. If we uplift people first, the business naturally follows, fuelled by a workforce that’s both confident and supported.
